Used Cars, Car Insurance and a Happy Anniversary

Used Cars and No Deposit Car Insurance

If you would have told me that I would be over the moon with spending our wedding anniversary looked at used cars, I would have thought you were crazy. If you know me, you know that doesn’t sound like my kind of thing. It’s actually the opposite of my kind of thing as my plans for our anniversary consisted of a fancy dinner and a night of dancing in a fancy hotel out of town.

Things don’t always go according to plan, though, so there we were, going between all of the local used car dealerships, desperately trying to find a car that would be good for my mom. I’m not sure why we decided that was a good do to do it, but we’d decided that we were going to buy my mom a car as a token of our appreciation. She’d helped us with our kids so much when they were little and we thought she deserved something special.

Our youngest had just started school and we weren’t going to need her to babysit during the week anymore. I thought buying her a car would encourage her to spend that time exploring and trying new things. She and my dad had a car but she sold it when my father passed away a few years ago. Since then, she’s relied on me to get her around. I was happy to do it, but I thought that a car would just give her legs again, you know?

Unfortunately, the only time we had to look for a car for her without the kids around was when the kids were with her. And we were supposed to be away for the weekend for our anniversary so we were kid-free. We looked at so many used cars for sale, I actually had to keep a notebook of what ones I liked and where they were. That surprised me a little bit, to be honest. I thought we’d have a hard time finding something that would work for my mom but the opposite happened. We actually found so many, it took a while to narrow it down!

We delivered it to her Sunday morning. She was excited, especially when my oldest daughter invited her to lunch. I don’t know if she would have been as willing to get behind the wheel again without the encouragement of my kids. I’m glad she did. She deserves to have fun.

Next gift we buy her is going to be some very cheap car insurance no deposit. After that, she’ll have everything she needs!

A Word Of Advice For Finding Who Has The Cheapest Auto Insurance!

If You’re Looking For Who Has The Cheapest Auto Insurance, heres some advice!

Shopping around pays off.  I realised the other day that I have to buy car insurance soon. But I like to spend my money on other, more important things in life. Like coffee. And scented candles. So, you know, cheap car insurance is the only way forward. Apparently driving without any kind of insurance is like illegal or something.

Initially, I turned to my current insurers. The company that has insured me since day one. And is my parents auto insurance provider of choice.

Now, I’m not a drunk driver. I live in a relatively safe neighbourhood (if you don’t count the fact that I’m fairly certain there’s some sort of crack den operating in my apartment building).

I don’t drive above the speed limit (unless I’m late for work and the road is free from traffic, which literally never happens so that detail is irrelevant).

So why is it that when I asked the insurance company for a quote they sent a figure that I can only assume they would also send to a professional getaway driver? Anyone would think I had put my occupation down as ‘world’s worst driver’.

So I figured it was time for a change. I mean. Surely there must be someone (anyone) willing to insure me for the less than the price of a down payment on a house?

But what I didn’t understand was how to work out who has the cheapest auto insurance. Everyone claims to be the cheapest.

I came to the unfortunate conclusion that shopping around to find the best rate for myself was the only way to go. I didn’t want to do it. It’s time-consuming and dull and I’m lazy. But I did it. And I managed to find a local insurer that agreed to cover me for literally half the price of my old company.I used www.whohasthecheapestautoinsurance.com to find and compare rates, at least that helped a little. Recommend using it so you don’t go crazy lol.

So take my advice, the only way to work out who has the cheapest auto insurance for you is to do the legwork yourself and ask around.

Travel insurance. There’s a reason people say you need it.

A few years ago, I went to Sri Lanka for a few months. It was great, nice beaches, nice food, great weather. What could possibly go wrong?

That’s why I didn’t buy travel insurance. Who gets sick or injured in paradise?

Me. Turns out. I get injured in paradise.

And this time it wasn’t even my own damn fault!

Somehow, in my first few weeks, I managed to avoid death or serious injury despite

  • Learning to surf during a particularly bad thunderstorm.
  • Refusing to wear a helmet or life jacket to jump off of a cliff into a fast moving river.
  • Driving a tuk-tuk at high speeds through busy streets.
  • Vomiting so powerfully that I lost consciousness and fell head first onto a concrete floor.

And running down some wet moss covered steps purposefully, and falling tail bone first into some hot springs via a very forceful concrete landing.

What finally got me? Catching the bus. If you’ve ever caught a bus in South Asia, you’ll know that it’s quite the experience. A lot of people. A lot of smells. That kind of thing.

So as I was being pushed off the bus by an elderly frail woman, I fell. And busted my ankle. Being the brave and uninsured young soul that I was, I tried to walk off the pain. For 2 weeks. But by the time my foot had swollen to around 5 times the size, I could take the pain no more.

I finally gave in and went to the hospital. I had a broken ankle! Excellent. Not only did I have to fund medical treatment, I also had to miss my flight home because apparently, it’s not good to fly long haul when you’ve just had a plaster cast fitted. So I had to pay for another flight back home, and fund a few more weeks of travel.

Consequently, I arrived home and had to head to a loan place near me to pay for a train ticket to my hometown.

Full Coverage Car Insurance is a Thing in China?

Really? Well, I have to say I am shocked. I don’t know who thinks it’s a good idea to start up a company offering full coverage car insurance in China. It must be the least profitable business to go into in all of Asia. If there’s one thing China is good at, it’s dramatically writing off vehicles in collisions as though it could earn them an Olympic gold medal.

I would go so far as to say that China is the worst country for driving that I have ever been to! There are literally zero rules (that are actually enforced anyway). And I once saw a video of a man being hit by a car. On the sidewalk. And when he confronted the driver, they just said ‘You’re in China!’ As though he could surely expect nothing less than being mowed down in a pedestrian area over there.

They have ‘traffic police’ who mainly shout in the faces of pedestrians and let cars do whatever they want. And who also are sometimes comprised of almost ‘qualified’ drivers trying to earn their license sporting a reflective vest and a stupid hat.

Almost every day on my way back from work I witnessed a smashed up car in the middle of the road. All of the parts scattered across the street. And not a single person ever gave a shit. Not eve a little bit.

It was so common for cars to drive into everything, from other cars to cyclists to bus stops, that, when faced with the very obvious debris of a serious road traffic accident, people did nothing but swerve around it at an alarming speed.

I understand why the drivers get insured. I just don’t understand why companies bother offering any kind of insurance at all, let alone full coverage car insurance. Happy to be back in the U.S.A, first thing I did was find the cheapest full coverage car insurance I could find.
